Our Philosophy

My name is Dr. Helene Schwartz-Cohen and I am a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Florida. My colleagues and I, are therapists (or counselors) who work with a variety of concerns. We provide counseling, therapy, couples counseling, family therapy, teen counseling, and family therapy.  We also have particular expertise in conducting comprehensive and specialized psychological evaluation.

In counseling or therapy our areas of expertise are mood difficulties, anxiety treatment, depression counseling, managing issues related to self-esteem, anger managmnet and adjustment.  We provide Individual Therapy, Couples Therapy, Marriage Counseling, and Family Therapy.  We also have had extensive experience with issues related to Addiction Counseling; Drug Abuse therapy, Alcohol Abuse counseling and various problems related to Dependency (including relationship, eating disorders, gambling addiction, internet addiction, excessive spending and many others).  Over many years, we have also developed specialized expertise in working with Teens in counseling and Family Therapy.  We frequently address many types of parenting concerns (teen acting out or teen depression) and family conflict and adjustment issues (divorce, relocation, academic issues). 

Also, for over fifteen years we have conducted full battery Psychological Evaluations for personal, professional, medical, vocational or for legal purposes (i.e. Learning Disorder Testing, Attention Deficit Disorder Testing (ADD & ADHD testing), Surrogacy Evaluations, Custody Evaluations, Fitness Assessments (fitness to parent, fitness to return to work) and general mental heath Assessments. 

We offer our services in a confidential and comfortable private practice setting in Plantation, FL (directly across from the Broward Mall). Plantation is only minutes from Fort Lauderdale, Sunrise, Davie, Southwest Ranches, Pembroke Pines and Cooper City.  Plantation is also just a few minutes east of Weston.

Our role as psychologists, counselors and therapists is to help our clients resolve problems, to clarify issues and obstacles, and discover better ways to navigate life’s challenges.
