Our Philosophy

My name is Dr. Helene Schwartz-Cohen and I am a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Florida. My colleagues and I, are therapists (or counselors) who work with a variety of concerns. We provide psychological assessments and treatment to children, teens/ adolescents, adults, couples and families. We also have particular expertise in conducting comprehensive and specialized psychological evaluations.

In counseling or therapy our areas of expertise are mood difficulties, anxiety, depression, issues with self-esteem, anger and adjustment.  We provide Individual Therapy, Couples Therapy, Marriage Counseling, and Family Therapy.  We also have had extensive experience with issues related to Addiction; Teen Drug Abuse, Drug Abuse, Alcohol Abuse and various problems with Dependency (including realtionship, eating, gambling, internet, spending and others).  Over many years, we have also developed expertise in working with Adolescent and Family Issues, many types of parenting concerns (teen acting out or teen depression) and family conflict and adjustment issues (divorce, relocation, academic issues). 

Also, for over fifteen years we have conducted full battery Psychological Evaluations for personal, professional, medical, vocational or for legal purposes (i.e. Learning Disorder testing, Attention Deficit Disorder testing (ADD & ADHD testing), surrogacy evaluations, custody evaluations, fitness evaluations, fitness assessments (fitness to parent, fitness to return to work) and general mental heath assessments. 

We offer our services in a confidential and comfortable private practice setting conveniently located in Plantation (directly across from the Broward Mall). Plantation is only minutes from Fort Lauderdale, Sunrise, Davie, Southwest Ranches, Pembroke Pines, and Cooper City.  Plantation is also just a few minutes east of Weston.

Our role as psychologists and therapists is to help our clients resolve problems which interfere with their daily lives - to clarify issues and obstacles, and discover better ways to navigate life’s challenges.
